Who you'll be working with

One clinician from your first call to your feedback session. No being passed between people, and no surprises about who you'll be speaking to.

A message from our founder

“I waited most of my life to understand why things felt harder for me than for other people. Nobody spotted it at school, and I know how much difference an answer can make. I set up this service so adults in Kent and Medway don’t have to wait years to be heard. When you come to us, you’ll be listened to, given time, and treated with respect.”

Stephen Wilson, Founder and Lead Neurodevelopmental Assessor

Founder · Lead Neurodevelopmental Assessor

Hi, I'm Stephen.

I left school at 17 with no qualifications, and nobody recognised then that I was neurodivergent. I served 18 years in the Metropolitan Police. I was operational until an injury moved me into training. The change in role made my then-undiagnosed ADHD much harder to manage, though nobody, including me, knew that’s what it was. As a trainer, I taught probationers and complex legal updates, set up training on the Human Rights Act 1998, and ran workshops on stress and PTSD for officers of all ranks. I also taught part of an MSc in Policing Studies and Criminal Justice.

Alongside my final years in the police, I retrained as a therapist. I’ve been working with people clinically since 2004.

I'm autistic and have ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia. That shapes how we run the service: clear information, no jargon, plenty of time, and a process built around how neurodivergent people take things in.

I can also help you understand what reasonable adjustments to ask for at work or in education. You can hear me talk about neurodivergence on my podcast, Blame It on the Genes.

Independent review

Every diagnosis is reviewed and signed off

You'll work with me throughout, but no diagnosis is made by one person alone. Every assessment goes through a multidisciplinary team (MDT) review before an HCPC-registered psychologist signs it off.

1

Your assessment

With me, as Lead Neurodevelopmental Assessor

  • Your screening and history-gathering
  • Structured diagnostic interviews, such as the DIVA-5 for ADHD and the ADOS-2 for autism
  • Scoring and a full draft report against the diagnostic criteria
2

MDT review

A multidisciplinary team discussion

  • Your full case file is reviewed by a registered associate clinician
  • We discuss your case together at a multidisciplinary team (MDT) review
  • Other possible explanations are considered and the diagnostic threshold is agreed
3

HCPC sign-off

By an HCPC-registered psychologist

  • Independent of your assessment sessions
  • Confirms the outcome against the diagnostic criteria
  • Co-signs your final report. No diagnosis is issued without this sign-off

This follows NICE guidance and is what GPs, employers and schools look for. Your report names the psychologist who signed it off and gives their HCPC registration number, so you can check it yourself on the public register.

Our values

How we work

Standardised tools

We use recognised assessment tools, including the DIVA-5 for ADHD and the ADOS-2, ADI-R, 3di and ACIA for autism: the same kinds of tools used in NHS services.

Continuity

You work with the same clinician throughout your pathway, from the free initial call to your feedback session.

Transparency

One fixed price per pathway, agreed before you book. No hidden costs added later. See our fees

No pressure

The free initial call exists to check the assessment is right for you. There's never an obligation to continue.

Community interest company

What is a CIC?

A community interest company (CIC) is a type of limited company set up to benefit the community rather than private shareholders. It's a social enterprise: we charge for our services, but the money goes back into the service and the people it's for.

What this means for you

  • We exist for a community purpose: making adult autism and ADHD assessment accessible in Kent and Medway.
  • Any surplus is reinvested in the service, not paid out to shareholders. That's how we keep fees as low as we can and fund new services like children's assessments and post-diagnostic coaching from 2027.
  • A legal "asset lock" means the company's assets must be used for the community, and can't be taken out for private gain.
  • CICs are overseen by the Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies, and we report on our community benefit every year.
